Fiodhna’s Profile

Dr. Fiodhna Gardiner-Hyland is an Education Methodology lecturer at Mary Immaculate College of Education, University of Limerick, Ireland, lecturing to both undergraduate and post-graduate students. Previous to this, she worked internationally as an education consultant, lecturer, curriculum leader and primary school teacher, working with universities in the Middle East, World Learning/SIT, McMillan, Oxford University Press and the British Council.

She has a first class honours B.Ed., a Masters Degree in Language and Literacy Education and a PhD in Teacher Education Pedagogy. She has won many awards, including the Sheikh Nahayan Doctoral fellowship award in association with ‘The International Research Foundation’ (TIRF).

She has presented lectures and workshops on general and second language teaching methodologies at international conferences, schools, universities and Ministries of Education. Her research interests focus on transformational teacher education pedagogy; teacher education curriculum development and foreign language literacy education. She was chair of TESOL Arabia’s YL SIG from 2010-2011 and is currently an international advisor for the SIG.
